- Knowledge of dog behavior
- Handling skills – dogs and equipment
- Class and private training curriculum development
- Strengthening training skills
Preferred Prerequisites:
- Prior dog-related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- RMRDTA 12-week program graduate, or instructor approval
NOTE: All requirements are open to discussion during your phone interview. Exceptions will also be considered, but are not guaranteed.
Materials:
Students will receive the Academy binder and textbooks. The program will provide certain required materials, but please note that lost materials must be replaced at the student’s expense.
Fees:
There is a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $50, which should be sent in with your application. Once we receive your application, we will review it and schedule a phone interview. Once accepted, your tuition is due prior to the arranged session start date — the 2016 tuition rates are as follows:
- $2,500 for students with rescue, shelter or animal-control experience that qualifies them for this discounted rate, OR
- $4,200 for students without qualifying rescue, shelter or animal-control experience.
Academy students are required to work with “real” clients prior to graduation.
